Lost

lost

/lôst/
Adjective
  1. Unable to find one's way; not knowing one's whereabouts: "they got lost in the fog".
  2. Unable to be found: "he turned up with my lost golf clubs".
Synonyms
missing - stray - gone

I feel like at least one point in everyone's life, they get lost.  Whether it's physical, (like if your mom abandoned you at the grocery store) or emotional, we all experience a time where we're unsure of where to go.  What path to follow.  Or simply, what to do.

Getting lost in ourselves mentally I believe is the hardest.  You may feel like you don't know who you are as a person.  In the midst of all the expectations or molds that all the people around you want you to fit into, you might just not truly realize who you are.  You might be unsure of what you're making out of your life at the moment, and try figure out where you want to be in the future.
Sometimes we feel abandoned because we have no one by our side in our state of uncertainty.  Being alone just increases the difficulty in making decisions because we don't have an opinion to build on.  There's no solid base.  It's just you, your mind, and the world, almost waiting for you to make the wrong choice as it may seem.
Being lost could also be viewed as a war in our minds because we don't know whether to trust ourselves with moving forward.

In the end, it's not that fun to be lost.  Which is why having a strong faith in God is crucial because when it seems like no one is there, guiding you through your solitary moments in life, God is.  You're never alone xx

oh little toad

Whenever I visit my Grandma and Grandpa's house, one of the first things I question there is if there are any toads or frogs in the basement.  Okay I know that sounds really strange, let me explain.  In their basement there is a narrow window on the wall. If you open the window, you don't see trees or the sky or anything, as it's in the basement.  Instead you see this curved, metal-shield type of thing, which is basically preventing any of the dirt under the grass from coming into the basement.  The base of this little area is covered in foam and stones (look in the first photo below), and there's an opening above which is the ground level.  I'm terrible at describing this guys, ugh I wish I would've taken a picture for you.

Well anyways, sometimes in the spring or summer there are little creatures who fall into the opening and land in here.  This is why I always ask my grandparents (well mostly my Grandpa, my Grandma isn't too comfortable being around things that jump) if anything has fallen, so we could get them out and free them to their backyard.

Last summer, I was ecstatic that we found something, and that I had brought my camera with me.

the botanical gardens

hey guys!

You may have noticed I have a little trouble keeping my word, don't I? I've "refreshed" my blog multiple times by deleting everything on it after I take an unexpected break and come back.  I've said I would start blogging again on a normal schedule. I've said sorry too many times to count, but a sorry isn't sincere if the same mistake happens again.  I'm still unsure on how to start this post or how to phrase what I'm trying to say, and I'm warning you this post isn't going to be structured well, but here it goes.

I first want to seriously say sorry to all my followers.  I consider each and every one of you as my friends and I apologize for being such a terrible, inconsistent blogger.

When I abandoned my blog, the sole reason behind it was because I was honestly too caught up with other things.  I barely had any free time to peacefully sit down at my computer, upload pictures from my camera, edit them, and create a post.  It seems simple, but at the time I was so busy with the end of my 8th grade year.  There were last minute projects, graduation stuff, etc.  Then over the summer I admit I could of blogged but I chose not to.  Maybe because I was lazy, because I forgot about my blog, or because I just didn't want to, I'm not quite sure why.

Not only did I take a break from blogging, but I took a break on photography.  And looking back on some of the photos on my camera the other day, I realized that I really really really miss it.  I remember when taking pictures was extremely enjoyable for me.  I missed the little part of satisfaction that I got after taking a good picture.  I missed capturing beauty in every ordinary things.  I missed holding my camera in my hand with a firm grip, my eye squinting through the viewfinder, about to take a photo.

Some of my friends have encouraged me to continue blogging, and I have an ache for taking more pictures and sharing them with you guys.  Therefore, I'm officially back on blogger!  I'm not going to be posting that often, maybe once or twice a week.  Also, my posts probabaly aren't going to be that lengthy in text, but who knows that may change every now and then.  As of now, all of my photos are unedited and natural (unless they're black and white but that's because my camera has editing options), but until I find a good photo editing site (any suggestions?) then I might start editing!

Unless otherwise noted, all of the pictures I'll be posting for the next month or so are from 2012/2011.
Oh and one last thing. I know I've said this many times before, but if any of you offer free custom blog designs or know of anyone that does, please please pleasseee let me know!

Thank you all so much for bearing with me and all of my random breaks on this blog(:  Like I said, I promise I'll do one or two posts a week.

xx Alex
